Frequently Asked Questions

BSC Weddings FAQ

What style of photography do you do?

Relaxed candid style with minimal posing! Photographs with a warm, cinematic and film-like tone. mix of creative, relaxed portraits and fly-on-the-wall photography to capture your big day. Our photos are edited in a timeless style with an awesome analogue film vibe.

We’re perfect for down to earth couples, who just want to enjoy their big day. With options for fully candid or a blend of candid and traditional. We love those natural moments that happen and (imo) they make the most memorable shots!

Do you have packages and how much do they cost?

BSC offer sensible and fair prices. We have a couple of packages that have been created based on our past experience and popular demands from our couples. This will help make the booking process as simple as possible.

Bookings and Payments are made online via our secure payment service. We have two payment options. Bank Transfer or Debit/Credit Card.

How do I get my photos?

Photos are delivered digitally and you’ll get a link to a high-resolution private photo gallery.

Private galleries are hosted in our Client Area.

You’ll get your own password protected gallery to view online or share with friends and family.

USB upgrades are available on request if you prefer a more traditional physical product 🙂

Do you require a deposit?

A non-refundable deposit is required to secure your booking date, this is usually between £200 and £500 depending on your chosen package.

Booking in advance is highly recommended. BSC has a maximum capacity of 2 weddings per week to ensure service quality. Booking dates are offered on a first-come-first-served basis. Once the deposit is received that date is secured for you and no one else can book us on that day.

The deposit can be paid by Bank Transfer via our online payment system.

With the remaining balance due 28 days before the event.

Do you offer reduced rates for weekday or winter weddings?

To keep pricing fair we have set prices for all packages.

Do you do wedding videos?

We no longer offer combined photo and video packages due to quality control and high demand for our photo services.

This means we can offer a much higher quality of service and improve the customer experience with much faster turnaround times and much better quality control.

From experience, we have found that juggling both photo and video duties on a wedding day is a bit of a challenge, even for a team with years of experience.

Do you watermark images?

No. Your final images will come without watermarks. All images on your gallery will also come without any watermarks or copyright restrictions etc.

We only use watermarks for our own website and social media for branding purposes but we are currently phasing them out in favour of no watermarks.

Who took the photos on your site?

All photos were taken and edited by our photographer Graeme. Graeme covers all photo duties for BSC.

We believe that our style is a big part of why clients choose us. So everything is edited by our own team to ensure consistency and high standards.

We don’t do styled shoots. All shots are from real weddings 📸

Do you charge for printing rights?

Printing rights are included free of charge with all packages and you are welcome to make your own photobooks/prints.

Do you charge for travel?

Yes, sorry there is a fuel charge and an hourly wage for driving applicable for non-local weddings.

Travel costs are included in the packages for local weddings within 50 miles of my Newcastle studio (NE4 7YA).

Costs may be applicable for events outside Tyne and Wear. Please let us know the address of your venue when you contact us and we will give you an exact quote before the big day.

Can we go to a different location for photos?

Yes! We’re happy to leave the venue and go get some photos at a different location. Jesmond Dene is and Newcastle Quayside are both popular options but if there’s somewhere special you have in mind we’d love to photograph you there. It doesn’t take too long we’ll shoot at the location fast and get you back to the party.

I'm a vendor/venue can I use your photos?

Sorry. Due to the misuse of my images in the past, all requests must go via the client. Not BSC.

I have no restrictions on the usage of my photos, only to credit where appropriate. You do not need to contact BSC for approval :)

I hope you understand, I have limited resources and can't micro-manage the 100s of weddings I do 💜

Will I have to sign a contract

Yes, all bookings include terms and conditions. These are completed electronically via our online booking system.

How long does it take to get my images back?

Your photographer will send you a few selected preview photos within a week of your wedding.

We aim to have photos returned to the customer within 120 days or less. We are currently seeing increased turnaround times due to the lockdown backlog of rescheduled weddings and very high demand for bookings. We expect turnaround times to be reduced for the 2025/26 seasons 🙂

Please note times might be longer during peak periods (Summer May to Sept) but we’ll keep you updated and send previews every step of the way.

Graeme will edit each photo individually to ensure quality, this process is time-consuming but is a big part of hiring a professional photographer service. We aim to deliver the best images we can. We don’t outsource editing 📸

Do cover gay and LGBTQ weddings?

Yes, we do 🏳️‍🌈💜

Do you do photo albums and USBs?

As of Jan 2024 we will no longer offer photo albums or USBs.

We reluctantly have to go fully digital/online. Due to ever-increasing costs, it is no longer economically viable to create books in-house to a high enough standard. This might change in the future should publishing costs come back down to a sensible level :)
We do have printers we can refer you to should you prefer to make your own. The process is surprisingly simple and you will save a load of money going direct to our supplier :)

We still offer in-house prints for A3 and A4 photos. Those can be purchased via your online gallery.

You are very welcome to provide your own USB/drive and we'll load the photos onto those.

Can I see more of your work?

Yes of course 🙂 We have tons of private galleries you can view, which will give you a good idea of our coverage throughout a full day. We also have extended printed portfolio material should you wish to meet in person and view the. They always look more stunning in print 🙂
Please book a consultation with us

Do you do your own editing?

All of our photos are edited by your photographer, we do not outsource or bulk process images. We are meticulous with our images. This hands-on service is factored into our package prices. One full day wedding is typically 4 days of editing. This means that we have a smaller capacity for the number of bookings we can take on in any given month. This ensures every booking gets the best possible service and end results.

On a typical 10 hour wedding day, we’ll capture roughly in the range of 2000 to 4000 photos, these are all checked for quality and any duplicate or similar-looking images, people blinking etc, will be culled, leaving only the best shots to give your wedding photos the most impact.

What kind of editing do you do?

Professional image processing and retouching are included as standard. We offer a very subtle retouching service where each image is optimised for print quality. No garish editing, no logos/watermarks just classy timeless images. Our editing style is warm and joyful with a hint of film.

No dark and moody editing unless specifically requested (this style looks great on a screen but they tend to look dark and flat on print) our photos pop and dazzle in print!

Do you do wedding fairs?

At present, we have no plans to exhibit at any fairs. As we now have our own Newcastle Studio where clients can arrange a visit.

Free private consultations are available. These are relaxed over a cuppa.

How many photographers will be there?

I believe one photographer is the best way to capture your day, without being too distracting for you and your guests. More than one photographer can feel intrusive to guests which goes against our natural fly on the wall style, also we don’t want photographers in the background of every photo =D

When I come to create the final gallery the two photographers styles stand out and leave it feeling very inconsistent. Artistically I find it very jarring as my photography style is very distinct which I’ve developed over years.

It also allows me to offer the service at a much lower cost.

What level of Insurance and Public Liability do you have?

For your peace of mind, we are fully insured and have public liability insurance for up to £10 million. This can be a prerequisite for higher-end venues and public venues.

Do you do destination weddings?

BSC cover North East England mainly.

We love a good road trip!

Contact us with your requirements for a quote outside of this area.

How many weddings do you do in a day?

We have a strict maximum of 1 per day! We are fully focused on your day and only take one booking a day and avoid back to back bookings on consecutive days, where possible.
This way we can ensure we're at your wedding punctually and even stay late on the day should things run late, as they tend to do on wedding days!

Who do I contact if have a question that is not covered here?

Drop us a message at hello@bscweddings.co.uk and we’ll get back to you

Do you offer shorter packages?

Our packages range from 2 hours to 10 hours.

Please note that shorter times are not usually available during summer season or for weddings that require lots of travelling.

Can I opt out of Social Media sharing?

Yes of course, not all of my clients are featured on my website and social media pages, as some prefer to keep those photos private. Just let me know ahead of the wedding and I'll be happy to oblige.

The most asked question... Have you worked at my venue before?
